max_length configuration behavior is different between Workspace and Platform UIIssue As we know the KB0685779 tells the fact that if String type field's max_length configuration is greater than 255, then it will be assigned as mediumtext data type in DB hence we can input over 255 characters into the field and save in UI.However this is behavior has a minor difference between Workspace and Platform UI. Facts KB0685779 - Why ServiceNow fields accept string inputs that exceed the max_length valuehttps://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0685779 Release All Cause 1. For max_length configuration with 256~999, Workspace UI enforces maximum length restrictions for string fields up to the characters follow the max_length configuration.2. For max_length configuration with 1000 or above, Workspace UI follows Platform UI behavior as KB0685779, where input is restricted to the database-defined limit rather than the field's configured maximum length. Resolution For above cause1, we have confirmed with Dev team that it's an expected behavior for Workspace UI. (cause2 is anyway following KB0685779)1. Verify the field type and maximum length configuration in the Workspace UI. 2. Confirm that fields with a maximum length of 999 or below allow input up to the defined limit in the Workspace UI, while fields with a maximum length of 1000 or above follow Platform UI behavior. 3. For fields exceeding 999 characters, ensure the configuration aligns with Platform UI expectations as documented in KB0685779.
