Workflow Studio is extremely slow and saving often fails Issue Problem In some environments, users may experience significant performance issues in Flow Designer / Workflow Studio, including long processing times when configuring or saving Flows. The issue may present as the Flow remaining in a Processing state for an extended period. Users may also experience delays when adding or modifying Flow actions. Steps to reproduce:1. Open Workflow Studio.2. Create a new Flow.3. Add a Service Catalog trigger.4. Add a 'Get Catalog Variables' action.5. Associate the action with any catalog item.6. Click 'Done'.7. Observe that the UI remains in 'Processing' for an extended period.8. Add another action, such as a Log action.9. Observe that the Flow continues to remain in 'Processing'.The issue affects all users on the instance and impacts the ability to create and modify Flows reliably. Symptoms Users may observe one or more of the following: Flow Designer takes an unusually long time to respond. Saving or completing a Flow remains in a Processing state. Adding or configuring Flow actions takes significantly longer than expected. Subsequent changes continue to remain in a processing state. Flow changes may fail to save after an extended period. The issue may affect multiple users rather than being isolated to a single user. Release all Cause One possible cause is that the Workflow Studio or Flow Designer plugins are running an older version that contains known performance-related issues or fixes that are addressed in a later release. Performance can also be affected by other instance-level factors, such as a high volume of asynchronous processing or sys_trigger records. Therefore, the issue should not automatically be attributed to Flow Designer without further investigation. Resolution 1. Verify the installed plugin versions Check the installed versions of: Workflow Studio Flow Designer Compare the installed versions with the latest versions available for the applicable ServiceNow release. 2. Update the plugins If updates are available and the environment's change-management process permits, update the applicable Workflow Studio and Flow Designer plugins to the recommended versions.
