CIs flagged as Stale in CMDB Health despite recent discovery dates (Cloud Discovery)Issue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } Certain Configuration Items (CIs) are flagged as Stale in CMDB Health metrics, even though their "Most recent discovery" (last_discovered) attribute was updated recently. Modifying the Health Inclusion Rules to filter out recently discovered CIs does not remove these records from the Staleness scorecard. CIs show as Stale in the CMDB Health Dashboard. 2. The last_discovered date on these CIs is recent (e.g., within the last 30 days). 3. Health Inclusion Rules configured to exclude these CIs do not work. 4. The staleness result description for these specific CIs typically shows: "Cannot find CI from cloud provider's API" rather than the standard "The CI was not updated in [X] Days". Staleness results on the instance come from distinct sources, including the CMDB Health Audit and Cloud Discovery. 2. Cloud Discovery results take precedence over the health audit (source precedence order 100 versus 200) and are written outside the standard audit process. 3. CMDB Health inclusion rules only govern the CMDB Health audit. They do not apply to external sources like Cloud Discovery. Instead, Cloud Discovery is explicitly reporting that the resource is no longer returned by the cloud provider's API. Because these results are generated outside of the CMDB Health Audit process, the Health Inclusion Rules cannot filter them out Resolution<!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } If you want to suppress these Cloud Discovery staleness results from the CMDB Health KPI, you can restrict the metrics to only evaluate audit-generated results. 1. Navigate to the System Properties table (sys_properties.list). 2. Locate the property: glide.cmdb.health.src.cmdb_health_audit_only 3. Set the value to true. Warning : Setting this property to true restricts the KPIs to audit-generated results only. It will suppress all non-audit health results, not just staleness. Alternative Action: If you do not wish to change the system property, the alternative is to investigate the discovery logs to determine why those specific resources (such as ESX servers and VMware instances) are no longer being returned by the provider's API.
