Configure new CDN URL for MID Server Upgrade<!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } Description: When the MID Server is being upgraded, upgrade packages are downloaded from https://install.service-now.com. This is a publicly accessible server where the download happens over the public internet. Some customers due to bandwidth limitation or internet degraded performance will have issues which causes their MID server upgrade to fail. To avoid this issue, you can customize the https://install.service-now.com URL to the new cdn url "https://cdn-install.sncapps.service-now.com" to download the upgrade packages. The OOB system property mid.install_server.base_uri is set to https://install.service-now.com by default and can be modified by a admin user to set to the new cdn url. Then the MID Server upgrade will download packages from the cdn url instead. Note: This applies only to customers who do not whitelist egress traffic by IP address, as the IP for https://cdn-install.sncapps.service-now.com is not static and will change over time. Steps to validate the connectivity to new cdn url from mid server: For customers using no proxy method for egress: Check connectivity from the MID server to https://cdn-install.sncapps.service-now.com For customers using a proxy for egress: Check connectivity from the proxy server to https://cdn-install.sncapps.service-now.com If the above connectivity test looks good, then perform the below steps. Modify the mid.install_server.base_uri property to include https://cdn-install.sncapps.service-now.com 1) Default is https://install.service-now.com. 2) User must have the admin role to modify this property and set it to a cdn server url "https://cdn-install.sncapps.service-now.com" Note: This is a one time change and no need to modify this property for every release. Once these steps are completed, you can trigger the MID Server upgrade to download from the new cdn URL. Advantage of using the new CDN URL over old install URL Better download performance as artifacts are served from edge locations closer to customers, reducing latency and dependence on origin path
