Cannot Monitor syslog Table Using Watchdog for Vulnerability Response FeatureIssue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } Although the customer set up a monitor definition for Watchdog for Vulnerability Response on the syslog table, no records are being created in sn_sec_cmn_watch_log. The syslog table does produce output with entries that match the monitor condition, yet those matching entries do not result in any records in sn_sec_cmn_watch_log. The scheduled job "Evaluate WatchDog conditions" runs the WatchDog. During that execution, the script include "WatchDogUtilBase" is invoked. In the script, when the WatchDog definition’s Condition Type is set to 'Filter', the following code section is executed. Within that section, the target table’s 'sys_updated_on' field is compared against the job’s execution timestamp.=== _evaluateCondition: function(table, query, time) { var records = []; var displayName = ""; var url = ""; if (gs.nil(time)) { time = new GlideDateTime(); time.subtract(3600 * 1000); } var cnt = 0; var gr = new GlideAggregate(table); gr.addEncodedQuery(query); gr.addQuery("sys_updated_on", ">", time);gr.addAggregate("COUNT"); gr.setGroup(false); gr.query(); === However, the syslog table and its child table, syslog_app_scope, are not structured with the expectation that their contents will be updated; consequently, the sys_updated_on field is not present on those tables. For this reason, filtering on the sys_updated_on field will never find any matching records, and consequently the WatchDog filter condition will effectively not operate for the syslog and syslog_app_scope tables. As a workaround, please modify the WatchDog definition to change the "Condition Type" from "Filter" to "Script". In that script, narrow the selection of target records explicitly and then test whether monitoring can be performed using this scripted condition.
