Changing on-premise instanceID to unique value, and initialize instance after cloned value has affected key-management framework (KMF) Issue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } There is a requirement to change the InstanceID to a unique value after an on-premise instance clone because the source and target will have the same instanceID within the system properties. Doing so might could cause issues with the Key Management Framework (KMF) since the keys on the target will be reused from the clone source. The reason for this is due to the non-uniqueness encountered by the KMF. This might cause the on-premise clone target instance to malfunction and be unable to start until this issues is resolved throughout the instance. After implementing this the key-management framework (KMF) should be able to create the appropriate keys from the new instanceID, since it will generating new keys, and will not recycle the target and will not recycle previous instanceID configuration. This is outlined within the following knowledge articlesKB1122086 - Update Instance ID for Clone of instanceKB1415468 - KMF - On-Premise, System Clones & Key Exchange Guide In some cases the KMF attempts to initialize but fails on this step since the source instance ID was reused on the target. An easy fix is to access the DBMS command line interface and run the following SQL Statement that can allow for the new keys to be initialized from the instance ID, and will generated once the target on-premise / self-hosted instance is started up with this database change (this will require that the instance services are is not currently running since a full initiation of the KMF will need to be initiated after the below query update) -- Updates the source_instance_id field on -- all instance keys to the specified instance id UPDATE sys_kmf_key_metadata M INNER JOIN sys_kmf_instance_key I ON M.sys_id = I.sys_id SET M.source_instance_id = '<NEW_TARGET_SYSID>';
