Why serial numbers start with "00": The system does not copy the serial number directly from the Sectigo JSON payload. Instead, it reads the serial number from the certificate itself and converts it using Java's BigInteger.toByteArray() method. Java stores numbers as signed values. To maintain a positive number value, the system checks the first byte. If that byte starts with a 1 (binary), Java adds a leading "00" to prevent the value from being interpreted as a negative number. Example with the "00" prefix: Sectigo sends: e8 f6 0e 85 4b c5 ...First byte e8 = 1110 1000 (starts with binary 1)ServiceNow stores: 00 e8 f6 0e 85 4b c5 ... Example without the prefix: Sectigo sends: 3a 4e fa 17 ...First byte 3a = 0011 1010 (starts with binary 0)ServiceNow stores: 3a 4e fa 17 ... 2. Why certificates receive State = "Other": By default, Sectigo discovery only searches for Issued and Expired certificate statuses. To include Revoked certificates, you must explicitly add "Revoked" to the includeCertStatus parameter in the ServerlessExecutionPattern. When includeCertStatus is left blank, it does not get ignored; instead, it becomes a list with one blank entry. This blank status can end up in the list of statuses used during discovery. As a result, revoked certificates are still retrieved and created with all their details, but their state does not match "Revoked" and falls back to "Other". Note: Revoked status was removed from the default status list as part of defect PRB1488787, which restricts revoked certificates to explicit status=Revoked queries but does not filter them out during general discovery. Troubleshooting tip: If certificates still show State = "Other" after applying the update, verify that includeCertStatus includes "Revoked" explicitly. Fixing the "00" prefix on serial numbers:This is expected behavior in the base system and is related to Java's signed integer handling. This is not a defect and requires no action. The "00" prefix ensures serial numbers are accurately represented as positive values in the certificate records and does not impact certificate functionality or validity. If your use case requires serial numbers without the "00" prefix for third-party system integration, consider creating a custom transformation in your discovery process.
