The view had been customised, preventing the out-of-box update from adding this field. In the Service Operations Workspace, fields available on the Details tab (Service Operations Workspace view) are passed through to the overview sections. In the script below, ServiceNow first checks whether the field is available and then evaluates its value. Since the field was not present on the workspace view, the value could not be evaluated and the conflict check was not disabled as expected.
