Pattern name: Azure - Virtual Machine (LP) As a result: Virtual Machine CIs are not created for certain Azure regions.Discovery may successfully identify VMs in some regions but not others.Downstream discoveries dependent on cloud-discovered VMs may not execute as expected. Associated applications or databases may appear non-operational because their hosting SQL servers or virtual machines were not discovered.Same Azure Service Principal credentials work in another environment while the behavior differs in production. In the affected execution, Azure Resource Graph returns a valid response containing zero VM records for the target region:" { "totalRecords": 0, "count": 0 } " For a working region, the same query structure returns VM records:" { "totalRecords": 5, "count": 5 } " The discovery process relies on the resources returned by Azure. When Azure Resource Graph returns no virtual machines for a region, ServiceNow does not create VM CIs and logs the informational message indicating that no VM instances were discovered in that region. Verification Steps Open the affected Discovery Status record.Navigate to the Azure VM Pattern execution log.Review the Horizontal Discovery Log.Identify the Azure Resource Graph query executed by the pattern.Compare the output from a working region and a non-working region.Verify the value of: totalRecords and count 7. Confirm whether Azure is returning VM resources for the affected region. Azure Resources Exist in the Region Confirm that Virtual Machines actually exist within the Azure region being queried. 2. Azure Resource Graph Results Run equivalent Azure Resource Graph queries directly within Azure and verify that VM resources are returned. 3. Subscription Scope Ensure the configured Azure subscription contains the expected Virtual Machines. 4. Region Configuration Verify that the target Azure region is correctly configured and that resources are not excluded by query filters. 5. Service Principal Permissions Confirm the configured Azure Service Principal has sufficient permissions to access the resources within the subscription. If Azure Resource Graph returns zero records for the queried region, Discovery behavior is considered expected and no ServiceNow defect is indicated.
