The Basic Authentication enforcement process retrieves the user using the sys_user record associated with the exception record. When the user belongs to another domain, the enforcement process may be unable to resolve the user correctly while applying the decision. The relevant processing is performed by the SNCRestrictBasicAuthApplyFix Script Include. When the user cannot be resolved, the following logic is reached:var userGr = new GlideRecord('sys_user'); if (!userGr.get(userSysId)) { gs.error(this.type + ': applyDecision - user not found: ' + userSysId); return; } As a result, the selected decision is not applied to the affected user. For example, when the decision is grant, the process does not reach the logic that creates the snc_basic_auth_api_acces role assignment. As a workaround, the user's access can be configured manually based on the intended authentication requirement: Integration/service account requiring only API access: Configure the user as Web Service Access Only (WSAO).Human user requiring both UI and Basic Authentication API access: Assign the snc_basic_auth_api_acces role to the user.Basic Authentication no longer required: Remove the Basic Authentication dependency and use the appropriate authentication mechanism. If the issue is reproducible with users belonging to different domains, collect the affected user sys_id, domain information, Basic Authentication exception record, and corresponding SNCRestrictBasicAuthApplyFix log entry for further investigation. Important The presence of the following message does not necessarily mean that the user record was deleted: applyDecision - user not found: <user_sys_id> In a domain-separated environment, the user may exist in the instance but still not be resolved by the enforcement process because of the user's domain context.
