Life Cycle Stage and Stage Status fields are not updated by DiscoveryIssue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } After running a discovery on a specific IP address and selecting a MID Server, the Install Status of a discovered CI was updated to 'Installed' from 'Retired'. However, the Life Cycle Stage and Life Cycle Stage Status fields remained unchanged and continued to reflect 'Retired'. This inconsistency was observed in the CI record, and it was expected that the Life Cycle fields would automatically update to match the new Install Status as part of the discovery process. This caused the system to prioritize the Operational Status value over the Install Status value during the discovery process. In this scenario, the Install Status field is being used as the source to update the life cycle values. However, we recognize that other organizations may rely on the Operational Status field as that source instead. This is largely dependent on the organization's configuration — specifically, a decision needs to be made regarding which CI type should use which field as the valid source for updating legacy values. Once that is determined, the life cycle mapping can be configured accordingly. 1. Review the Life Cycle Mapping rules for the cmdb_ci_server table to identify rules that map Operational Status and Install Status to Life Cycle fields.2. Adjust the priority values of the mapping rules to ensure the Install Status rule takes precedence over the Operational Status rule. Lower the priority number for the Install Status rule to make it higher priority.3. Verify the updated rules by re-running the discovery process and checking if the Life Cycle fields now reflect the updated Install Status.
