Two system properties control whether the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) automatically updates CI discovery timestamps when source data does not provide explicit recency information: glide.identification_engine.ire_message_listener_skip_updating_last_scan_to_nowglide.identification_engine.ire_message_listener_skip_updating_source_last_discovered_to_now When these properties are set to true (non-default), the 'Most Recent Discovery' field on Server CIs and the 'Last Scan' field on object source records are not updated during subsequent SG-AWS import runs. The first import creates the record with a timestamp, but later imports do not refresh these timestamps. Meanwhile, the AWS Record Removal process queries [sys_object_source] to identify "stale" CIs—those whose 'Last Scan' value is older than a configurable cutoff. Because the timestamps are frozen (not updated), active CIs are incorrectly classified as terminated in AWS and set to "Retired" status. The oscillation occurs because the SG-AWS import job is a single, long-running transaction. The removal process runs partway through that transaction, retiring CIs whose import rows have not yet been processed. Minutes later, when the same transaction's transform loop reaches those CIs' data, it updates 'Last Scan' and resets Install Status back to "Installed." This produces the rapid flip observed in the CMDB.
