The property determines how the platform evaluates access to approval records. - When glide.approvals.restrict_by_record = false, the approval ACL uses the default evaluation logic. A user can be granted access to an approval record if any of the following conditions are met: The user has one of the privileged roles evaluated by the ACL (for example, approval_admin, itil, or catalog).The user is the approver or an authorized delegate.The user has read access to the underlying record associated with the approval. Because these conditions are evaluated using logical OR conditions, a user who has access to the underlying record may also be able to view the corresponding approval record, even if they are not the assigned approver. - When glide.approvals.restrict_by_record = true, the approval ACL enforces stricter access checks. In addition to satisfying the approval relationship (such as being the approver or an authorized delegate, unless the user has an administrative role evaluated by the ACL), the user must also have access to the underlying record being approved. This property allows administrators to choose between the default approval visibility behavior and a more restrictive access model based on their organization's security requirements. Enabling this property causes the platform to perform additional record-access validation when evaluating read access to approval records. As a result: Users with privileged roles evaluated by the ACL (for example, approval_admin, itil, or catalog) continue to have access as defined by the out-of-box ACL.Approvers and authorized delegates must also have access to the underlying record before the approval record is displayed.Users who only have access to the underlying record, but are not otherwise authorized by the approval access checks, are prevented from viewing approval records. If your organization relies on the default approval visibility model, the property can remain false. Before changing the property, evaluate the impact on existing approval processes and user access, as enabling it may reduce approval record visibility for some users.
