As a result, the field becomes mandatory only when the Incident is moved to the Resolved or Closed state. The close_code field's mandatory status is controlled by a Data Policy named "Make close info mandatory when resolved or closed" (sys_id: d3efcfbf3bf2320050bec9bb34efc4c2). This Data Policy has the following properties: Condition: state IN 6,7 (Resolved or Closed)Enforce UI: Enabled (enforce_ui = 1)Reverse if False: Enabled (reverse_if_false = 1) When this Data Policy is active: When the incident state is 6 (Resolved) or 7 (Closed), the policy enforces close_code as mandatory on the form.For all other states (including New = 1), the "Reverse if False" flag causes the policy to actively set the field as non-mandatory. Additionally, two Client Scripts provide secondary enforcement: "(BP) Hide Close Notes and Code" (onLoad) — Sets close_code as mandatory when state = 6 or 7"(BP) Close Mandatory on Close or Resolve" (onSubmit) — Validates mandatory fields during close/resolve actions This layered approach ensures that close_code and close_notes remain optional during incident management but become mandatory only during the resolution/closure workflow.
