"Unable to extract Key from KeyStore" error when configuring JWT Keys for SharePoint Online SpokeIssue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } When configuring the SharePoint Online Spoke in Integration Hub (IH) and uploading a keystore file to the JWT Keys record, the save operation fails with the error Unable to extract Key from KeyStore. Downstream Flow Designer actions that depend on the JWT authentication — such as the "Look Up Site Collection ID" action — subsequently return a 403 "Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation" error, preventing the SharePoint Online connection from being established. If the keystore contains multiple entries — as occurs when a certificate management tool exports the full chain including root and intermediate certificates — the first alias may be a trusted certificate entry rather than the required PrivateKeyEntry. Because the platform reads only the first alias and cannot extract a private key from a certificate entry, decryption fails and the record cannot be saved. Any Integration Hub (IH) actions that depend on JWT-based authentication subsequently fail with a 403 authorization error, because the JWT Keys configuration was never successfully stored. Before you begin: Confirm the Java Development Kit (JDK) is installed on the machine where you will run the following steps, as the keytool utility is required. To prevent recurrence: When exporting a JKS file from a certificate management tool such as Venafi, select the option to export without the Root Chain. This ensures the resulting keystore contains only the private key entry and avoids introducing additional aliases. Open a command prompt or terminal on the machine where the JDK is installed.Run the following command to list all aliases in the existing keystore and identify the correct PrivateKeyEntry: keytool -list -v -keystore <source-keystore>.jks -storepass <keystore-password> In the output, locate the alias listed as Entry type: PrivateKeyEntry — note this alias name for use in the next step.Run the following command to export only the PrivateKeyEntry to a new single-entry keystore file: keytool -importkeystore -srckeystore <source-keystore>.jks -destkeystore <new-keystore>.jks -srcalias <private-key-alias> -srcstorepass <keystore-password> -deststorepass <new-keystore-password> Replace `<private-key-alias>` with the alias identified in step 3, and choose a password for the new keystore. Log in to your ServiceNow instance with an administrator role.Upload the new single-entry keystore file created in step 4 and make sure it's valid. In the application navigator, search for JWT Keys and open the JWT Keys list.Open the JWT Keys record for the SharePoint Online Spoke configuration. In the Key Store field, select the keystore uploaded earlierEnter the new keystore password in the Key Store Password field.Click Save and confirm the record saves without error. In Flow Designer, test the SharePoint Online connection by running the Look Up Site Collection ID action and confirm it completes successfully.
