While the documentation in KB2884055 does allow you to override some Do-Not-Disturb capabilities, this functionality is ultimately controlled by Apple's Critical Alerts framework.In order to play sound while a device is in Do-Not-Disturb or Silent Mode on iOS the mobile app must be granted a special Critical Alerts entitlement by Apple. This entitlement must approved manually by Apple on a per-app basis, based on the app's use case (e.g., health, safety, emergency scenarios). These restrictions complicate the process of adding audible alerts that override Do-Not-Disturb mode.
