Guidance on configuring HTTP Security Response Headers in ServiceNowIssue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } Following a recent security audit of our ServiceNow instances, several missing or misconfigured HTTP response headers were identified. We would like your guidance on the recommended approach to address them within the ServiceNow platform. The findings require the following headers to be properly set:Cache-Control: Must be configured with no-store, max-age=0 (currently returning a negative max-age value).Content-Security-Policy (CSP): Not currently defined. We need to implement a CSP header that covers the following directives: default-src, style-src, img-src, base-uri, and form-action. Additionally, either frame-ancestors must be included in the CSP or X-Frame-Options must be set separately (see above). The policy should use explicit, specific sources (e.g. https://specific-domain.com) and avoid unsafe keywords such as unsafe-inline, unsafe-eval, data:, blob:, wildcards, or bare URL schemes. However, since ServiceNow inherently relies on inline scripts and styles, we are unsure whether a strict CSP policy would break platform functionality — which is part of what we need guidance on. We do not support setting any other directives. Please refer to this KB article for more information on the 'frame-ancestors' directive: https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/servicenow-platform/http-response-header.html?content-lang=en-US - Also, it is currently not possible to configure the directives or their values for the 'Cache-Control' header. It is only possible to set the 'Cache-Control' response header to 'private' or 'public'.
