Out-of-box Client Script The Knowledge Management Advanced plugin includes a client script that: Makes the Language field read-only after article creation.Makes Knowledge Base and Category fields read-only.Filters available languages based on the selected Knowledge Base.Enforces language and knowledge base consistency.Prevents structural issues related to article translations and categorization. This behavior is expected and supported by product design. Custom UI Policy A custom UI Policy was configured to make the Parent field read-only. This configuration is not part of baseline ServiceNow functionality and was introduced through customization. Together, these configurations result in both fields appearing read-only to users. Resolution<!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } To restore editability of the fields, review and adjust the configurations responsible for enforcing read-only behavior. Steps: Identify and review any UI Policies affecting the Knowledge article form.Modify or deactivate the UI Policy that enforces the Parent field as read-only.Review the client script introduced by the Knowledge Management Advanced plugin.Evaluate whether disabling or modifying the script aligns with your business requirements. If disabling the client script: Validate the impact on Knowledge Base consistency and data integrity. Test changes in a non-production instance before applying to production.Confirm that fields behave as expected after adjustments. Important:The OOB client script enforces design constraints to prevent issues such as invalid language assignments, broken relationships, or misaligned Knowledge Base configurations. Disabling it may introduce data consistency risks.
