The Authorization Code flow requires a user to interactively complete an authorization step in a browser. When the Ansible Tower instance is not publicly accessible, all spoke traffic must route through a MID Server. OAuth 2.0 is not supported for Ansible Spoke connections that route through a MID Server. Because the MID Server handles the connection on behalf of the ServiceNow instance, the OAuth redirect and token exchange flow cannot complete. Basic Auth is the supported authentication method for this use case.
