The error originates from the out‑of‑the‑box client script “Restrict submission if asset id invalid”. (/catalog_script_client.do?sys_id=2b8396c69381161055431cbf648918a4) The script checks whether the asset_sys_id parameter is present in the URL. Because the asset_sys_id is not included when the catalog item is accessed directly, the script blocks submission and displays the error. According to the product documentation, the “Raise Issue” catalog item is launched from within the “My Assets” page, which automatically passes the required asset_sys_id parameter. When the setting is false, assets are not enabled in the Employee Center and users cannot access the My Assets page. As a result, the “Raise Issue” catalog item could be launched directly—without selecting an asset—which means the required asset_sys_id parameter was never passed to the form, causing the error.
