The error occurs because the OOB Business Rule assumes a UI transaction exists and calls:GlideTransaction.get().getPageName() Asynchronous Business Rules run in a background worker thread after the database commit, which means no GlideTransaction (UI request context) exists. When the OOB rule executes in this context:GlideTransaction.get() → null The script then attempts:null.getPageName() which throws the error:RhinoEcmaError: Cannot convert null to an object What's deceiving is that disabling the custom Business Rule stops the error. So, without the asynchronous update:UI update → GlideTransaction exists → OOB rule runs normally With the async update:Async worker → no GlideTransaction → OOB rule throws error The fix to the OOB Business Rule, therefore, is to modify it and add a null check for GlideTransaction before calling getPageName() which then will allow the system to safely exit the Business Rule when it runs outside a UI transaction.
