The reason for this limitation was that the API that was available at that time did not support client credentials on Jira. It is effectively a 2-legged OAuth model, where: ○ The OAuth client credentials grant is used.○ There is no redirection or user approval process (as in 3LO).○ All API calls are executed as the OAuth-authorized Jira user (typically a service account).This official ServiceNow doc explains how to configure the Jira Spoke integration using an OAuth 2.0 profile to authenticate securely with Jira Cloud. The Jira Spoke currently supports the authorization code grant by default, and no changes are required in the spoke if Jira now supports client credentials. Customers would only need to update the grant_type field in the oauth_entity_profile record attached to credential, and it should work.The below external article outlines the detailed steps to obtain the client ID and client secret for service accounts.
