Users Have Read/Write Access to a VIT When Not Part of the Assignment GroupIssue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } After the sn_vul 26.4.4 upgrade, users may have unexpected read/write access to a Vulnerability Item Task (VIT) associated with a remediation task, even when they are not part of the VIT's assignment group. The following behaviors are observed: A user who is a member of the remediation task's assignment group but not the VIT's assignment group can no longer see the VIT record directly.However, when the user resolves the remediation task, the associated VIT status is also updated — even though the user does not have visibility or write access to the VIT. Manual assignment group changes to a VIT do not trigger automatic unlinking from the associated remediation task. As a result, the remediation task retains its association with the VIT and can indirectly affect the VIT's status through task resolution, regardless of the user's direct access to the VIT record. Resolution<!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } There is currently no configuration change to alter this behavior. This is a known limitation resulting from how VIT-to-remediation task associations are maintained when assignment groups are manually changed. If your organization requires automatic unlinking behavior when assignment groups are changed, submit an Idea request to the ServiceNow product team.
