To enable inline reference preview functionality, the workspace must be upgraded to a version where this improvement is included. Recommended Action Upgrade CSM Configurable Workspace to the version where the enhanced reference preview behavior is available. Minimum required version: 25.1.4 Workspace reference preview behavior is controlled by the active CSM Default Record Page variant. In the Out-of-the-box configuration provided by ServiceNow, the CSM Default Record Page is active and prioritized with an order value of -1000. This ensures that CSM-specific record logic, including reference preview handling, is applied. In this scenario, the CSM Default Record Page was inactive. Because of this, the workspace resolved to the generic Record page instead. The generic Record page does not support the CSM reference preview popup behavior, which caused the preview icon to behave incorrectly. This fallback behavior is expected based on platform page resolution logic. Set the page to Active and update the Order value to -1000 so it is prioritized over the generic Record page. 4. Save the changes and refresh the workspace. 5. Verify that clicking the reference preview icon (ⓘ) now displays the pop-up preview as expected. After refreshing the workspace, clicking the reference preview icon on any reference field opens the preview pop-up correctly, confirming that the CSM Default Record Page is being used. Conclusion If reference preview behavior in the CSM/FSM Configurable Workspace does not align with expectations, verify that the CSM Default Record Page is active and prioritized in UI Builder. When configured correctly, the workspace behaves according to Out-of-the-box CSM design.
