If an asset is linked to multiple CIs, using the "Delete Asset Only" option may result in the unintended deletion of those additional CIs. Sequence of events: 1. Hardware Asset1 is linked to Computer CI1 — a valid association created through the Asset-CI management process. Asset and CI management2. A user or a custom process later creates an additional association between Asset1 and Computer CI2. 3. When the "Delete Asset Only" UI action is executed on Asset1, the system first removes the association between the Asset1 and CI1 before proceeding to delete the Asset1 record. 4. When the Asset record is deleted, CI1 is retained because it had already been disassociated.However, CI2 — created through the incorrect secondary mapping — is still associated to the asset at the time of deletion, causing it to be cascade-deleted. Because the Asset–CI relationship is strictly one-to-one, we do not handle disassociation from multiple CIs.
