The internal validation is done by the Business rule: "Update conv status on flag change" If there is any reason the catalog item does not meet the conditions to be conversational, the table catalog_item_non_conversational_reason will store that. That means next time you have a similar situation like that, you can go directly to that table and query by the catalog item. That will display the reasons for that. Example: Note you can also check the catalog_item_analytics table for the catalog item but that will not display the reasons.
