Sample Screenshot below. In AWS, an EC2 instance (VM) operates within a single Availability Zone (AZ) in a specific Region — it cannot span or reside in multiple data centers simultaneously. The problem was caused by stale or incorrect "Hosted On" relationship data within the instance. Sequence of Events: The CMDB key values for the VM are updated by the discovery pattern "Amazon AWS - Virtual Server (LP)".During the scheduled discovery run, the pattern executes on both the us-west-2 and us-east-1 regions.The pattern execution for us-west-2 ran first in this scenario. Since the payload from this region does not include data for the VM but the "Hosted On" relationship existed, the system interprets the VM as stale, triggering the Deletion Strategy to mark the VM as Retired.As part of this process, the related cmdb_key_value entries are also identified as stale and subsequently deleted. This logic is implemented within the "AbstractDeleteStrategy" script include, which is invoked by the Deletion Strategy script.When the pattern payload from "us-east-1" that contained the VM and the Key value details is processed later, VM is marked Operational again and the key values are created back.
