Duplicate tasks created against retired Configuration Items during Discovery (IRE reconciliation)Issue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } After running Discovery, duplicate (DUP) tasks are created against Configuration Items (CIs) that are in a Retired install status. This can occur in several scenarios, including: Both CIs involved in the duplicate task are in a Retired state.One CI is in a Retired state and the other is in a different non-Operational state (for example, In stock).An active CI shares identifying attributes with a previously retired CI. By default, IRE evaluates retired CIs in addition to active CIs. If an active CI shares identifying attributes with a retired CI, IRE flags a potential conflict and generates a duplicate task. Resolution<!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } To prevent duplicate tasks from being generated against retired CIs, configure an Identification Inclusion Rule that restricts IRE evaluation to non-retired CIs. General guidelines In your instance, navigate to Configuration > CI Class Manager.Select the CI class you want to scope (for example, Server).Open the Identification Rule for the class.Under Inclusion Rules, create a new rule.Set the filter condition to restrict scanning to active CIs. For example, set install_status is Operational, or install_status is not Retired, depending on your CI lifecycle.Save the rule.Run Discovery against a known sample and verify that no new duplicate tasks are created against retired CIs. Example If an Inclusion Rule is configured for the Server CI class with a filter where install_status is Operational, IRE evaluates only Server CIs with that status. Servers in any other state (including Retired, In stock, or Decommissioned) are excluded from reconciliation, which prevents duplicate tasks from being raised against them.
