The Identity Type field is a choice field that determines both the user's access type and whether they can perform interactive logins. Select the appropriate identity type based on the user's role:

Human: Select for real people, such as employees, customers, or administrators. This is the default value when creating a new user record. This identity type allows both interactive and web service access. Machine: Select for non-human systems, devices, or automation accounts—such as servers, applications, integration services, or scheduled jobs that make automated requests. When you select Machine, the Web service access only field is automatically enabled, which restricts this user to API and web service calls only and prevents any interactive login attempts. Agent: Select for autonomous AI-driven systems and intelligent agents. This identity type is designed for systems that operate independently without human intervention. When you change the Identity Type value, the Web service access only field automatically updates to reflect the appropriate access restrictions for that identity type. You cannot manually override this field.
