This article explains why a version may be unavailable — including downgrade restrictions, fix-level restrictions, and conflicting scheduled changes — and describes what to do in each scenario. You cannot select a version in the upgrade request dropdown when the version is considered a downgrade for your instance, is available only by request and not generally listed, or when a change is already scheduled on your instance to apply to the same version. If a conflicting change is already scheduled, the system does not allow you to create a new change for the same instance, the version does not appear in the dropdown, and you cannot apply the upgrade using a patching change. Check if the requested version is a downgrade. A downgrade is when the requested version was released before the version currently running on your instance. Example: If your instance is running *Australia patch 2* (released June 10, 2026), upgrading to *Australia Patch 1* (released Feb 10, 2026) is considered a downgrade and is not permitted. However, *Australia Patch 3* (released September 7, 2026) would be a valid upgrade. Step 2. Check if the requested version is missing important fixes. Some versions may be restricted if they do not include key problem record (PRB) fixes. 1. Review the Available versions release notes and confirm any included fixes. Example: Zurich Patch 7b includes a critical PRB fix not found in Zurich Patch 8. Requesting a change from Zurich Patch 7b to Zurich Patch 8 would be a downgrade in terms of included fixes and may not be granted. Step 3. Check for a conflicting scheduled change. If a change is already scheduled on the instance to apply to the same version, the system prevents a new change from being created for that version and removes it from the dropdown. If the desired version is not available and you believe it should be, complete the following steps: 1. Sign in to the Now Support portal. 2. Select Instance, then select the Instance dashboard. 3. Go to Changes for Your Instances, then select View all Changes. ⚠ If there is no scheduled change (CHG) for the desired instance and the version does not appear on the CHG list, even though it is still available, submit a support case through Now Support with your upgrade request details.
