<h2>ITOM Cloud Services Diagnostics - CnC Connection Test (kafka)</h2><br/><div style="overflow-x:auto"><div> <h2>CnC Connection Test (Kafka)</h2> <blockquote> <div> <div>This is available since version Nov 2024</div> </div> </blockquote> <div><strong>Pre-requisite:</strong> Make sure the Kafka setup is done correctly on the instance. If not you can follow the <a href="/kb?id=kb_article_view&sys_kb_id=84c2feda83de6ed4cdbbc430feaad3d8" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">KB2009377</a></div> <div> </div> <div>This check sends an outbound kafka message to ICS with the message type as "<strong>ics_diagnostic_kafka_check</strong>". Once ICS recieves this message, it will return a kafka inbound message. If the outbound message is present in the ecc_queue with "processed" as the state, then kafka outbound is considered to be working fine. If a message is present in the ics diagnostic results table with source as "Kafka", then kafka inbound is considered to be working.</div> <ol style="list-style-position: inside;"><li>Inbound</li></ol> <div><img src="/sys_attachment.do?sys_id=7b45bfae83dae698cdbbc430feaad347" width="997" height="97" /></div> </div> <div> </div> <div> </div> <div><img src="/sys_attachment.do?sys_id=6f2b2cf283966a98cdbbc430feaad3d8" width="867" height="180" /></div> <div><br /> <div> </div> <div>⚠️It requires the instance to have at least ONE working agent connected via ICS in order to send outbound message to CnC.<br />Make sure the agent is connected via mid-less, you can verify it navigating to the table "Agent Client Collector Info" i.e. "sn_agent_ci_extended_info" & checking the value in "Use cloud services" column. This should be true for an agent to connect via midl-ess.</div> <div> </div> <div><img src="/sys_attachment.do?sys_id=53a1c9be839e6a98cdbbc430feaad3b5" width="880" height="658" /></div> <div> </div> <div><br /><br /></div> <div>If the outbound message is present in the ecc_queue doesn't have "processed" as the state, then kafka outbound is not working.</div> <div>Please check the below business rule "<strong>CnC Kafka Outbound</strong>" is active and no modifications have been done on the same.</div> <div> </div> <div>Also if everything OK til this point but still the check isn't green then check if the message are actually being written onto the topic.</div> <div>The same can be verified by navigating to "Hermes Topic Inspector " > Select Service as "hermes-internal" > "List Topic".</div> <div>Select the topic "sni.<instance_name>.cnc.itom_cnc_outbound" > "Load Partition Info"</div> <div> Check if the topic End Offsets are being incremented when re-running the checks. If offset remains same then the instance isn't able to write on to topics. <br />Please reach out to support for further investigation.</div> <div> </div> <div><img src="/sys_attachment.do?sys_id=619b70f6835e6a98cdbbc430feaad3fe" width="896" height="477" /></div> <div> </div> <div> </div> </div></div>
