When enabled, it also had the effect of making these scripts accessible from the script sandbox, a less-privileged context where certain operations are restricted, e.g. writes to the db.In Xanadu, as a security enhancement, the decision was made to separate the concepts of client-callable and sandbox-callable. There are many many examples of code that needs to be client-callable but does not need to be sandbox-callable. By separating the two settings, it makes it possible to configure client-callable script includes to *not* be sandbox-callable, thus protecting them from being called by code that may come from unauthenticated users and reducing the potential surface area for attackers to exploit.Because, prior to Xanadu, both settings were embodied in the 'client-callable' configuration, the upgrade from pre-Xanadu to Xanadu *must* set 'Sandbox enabled' to 'true' on all client callable script includes. Otherwise, it would introduce a change in behavior that would break customer code The script includes for which Client callable enabled (note that this was renamed to 'GlideAJAX enabled' in Xanadu). In that case, the upgrade behavior saw and there only the 'Sandbox enabled' is expected and necessary to preserve the existing behavior.Customer are welcome and encouraged to deselect this option on all of their client-callable script includes that do not require it. If there is uncertainty about an individual Script Include or suspicion it may be used from the sandbox by customers, leave it as is (sandbox_callable=true).
