So by default this property has the value cmdb_ci.support_group, IntegrationGroup this means that we'll try to use assignment group from the ci, if not defined then from the connector instance. We also may put there a name of any event field or field from additional info, for example suppose we have in additional_info field called assGroup, then we'll use this field value to retrieve the assignment group from the usergroup table. The problem with this approach that that assGroup must have the hardcoded sys_id of the user group.

Example: add field alertGroup in additional field in event and provided a sys ID from the sys_user_group table and also added the value for evt_mgmt.alert_auto_assignment_field as "alertGroup". It worked.
