NetCool (V1) connector, using Sybase JDBC driver, will be deprecatedSince the release of the bi-directional REST API-based "IBM Netcool_V2" Event Management Connector, the original "IBM Netcool" (V1) Sybase JDBC driver-based Netcool connector is no longer being developed or enhanced. It is planned to be formally deprecated around the Zurich release timeframe. The current documentation directs customers to download an old 6.0.6 version of the Sybase JDBC driver, from a 3rd party download site. This driver is not supported by ServiceNow since it was removed from MID Servers in the Helsinki version. This driver is apparently not able to connect using a secure connection. Tests in February 2025 confirm this connector does still work when connecting to an unsecured port. It might be possible with the v7.0.7 driver from SAP/Sybase, although this is untested:https://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.infocenter.dc39001.0707110/doc/html/adh1362494019402.htmlSee "SSL Support in jConnect" A REST API based solution had been requested by customers since at least 2019. All recent versions of NetCool support the REST API interface. Please migrate to using the "IBM Netcool_V2" connector, that was released in 2021, and for all new implementations: https://www.servicenow.com/docs/bundle/store-release-notes/page/release-notes/store/it-operations-management/store-rn-itom-event-mgmt-connectors.htmlVersion 1.3.1 - February 2021Upgraded the Netcool Pull Connector integration with the bi-directional feature. This integration uses the REST APIs from Netcool and it updates the Netcool system when an alert is acknowledged in a ServiceNow instance.
