The table rotation schedule ensures that new data is written to one of the tables in the rotation group. According to the value of Clean base rotation setting, the base table is deleted and then a new round of writing the tables in a daily rotation commences. By default, this table deletion occurs after seven rotations." You might assume 7 rotations x 1 day = 7 days of data, but would be wrong. 1 table/shard is being filled up today, so could be almost empty still. 1 is online and empty ready to be switched over to tonight. 1 is offline for emptying ready for the day after. So there is actually only 4-5 days of data being retained. Alert [em_alert] For the alerts (em_alert) table, Closed alert records older than 90 days are purged by default (last updated before 7,776,000 seconds ago). Alerts still open will remain indefinitely. "...by default a job is scheduled to run the Event Management - auto close alerts script to automatically close alerts in the alerts table that meet the specified conditions. The default retention policy for closed alerts is that the system deletes closed alerts if it is not updated for 90 days."
