Count is inconsistent when clicking between tabs. The default behavior of AI Search is that when a query is first executed, it's executed in "AND" mode, meaning all terms that aren't stop words need to match in order for a document to be returned. If there aren't enough results to fill the first page (e.g. <10 results w/ default configurations for portal), it will resubmit that query in "OR" mode, such that documents only need to contain at least half of the non-stopword terms to be considered a match, hence potentially significantly expanding the result set. So, when searching on the "All" tab, there's >10 results, so the results from the "AND" mode execution are returned, including the counts for tabs. However, when changed to the affected tab, which only has less match, the query is then resubmitted in "OR" mode, and the tab counts are increased. The tab counts are calculated via Facets (similar to how the values to show for the "Topics" and "Subtopics" filters on the left are determined). Unfortunately, due to the performance impact, it's not really practical to individually calculate each tab count based on the hypothetical query mode that would be used if that tab was clicked on. This will globally disable the "OR" resubmission across all apps on the instance. This property is documented at https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/washingtondc-platform-administration/page/administer/ai-search/reference/system-properties-ais.html Option 2:To increase the "glide.ais.query.resubmit.minimum_terms" property to >2 to reduce the number of queries the "OR" resubmission happens for. The value of this is 2 by default. Note: Both of these options can have negative ramifications, in that they impact other apps other than just this one portal, and can cause queries to not be resubmitted in OR mode when it actually may have been helpful to do so.
