Required roles for migration Role Capabilities System administrators Full migration from Migration Center pa_admin, dashboard_admin, report_admin Access the Migration Center review pages after migration dashboard_admin Migrate individual Core UI dashboards from pa_dashboards.list report_admin (starting with Zurich) Migrate individual Core UI reports from sys_report.list Dashboard owners (starting with Zurich) Migrate their own dashboards Migration process Step 1: Test migration in non-production Critical: Always run and test the migration on a single, non-production instance first. You cannot move migrated material from a non-production instance to a production instance. Use a non-production environment that most closely resembles your production instance.Go to Analytics Administration > Migration Center.Choose migration scope: Full migration: Migrate all Core UI analytics content.Try with selected content: Migrate a subset (for example, by department) to minimize risk. Run migration during off-peak hours.Evaluate results thoroughly using the Migration Center review pages. Step 2: Review migration results The Migration Center monitors all migrations and analytics assets. For each asset, you can: View migration status.Review logs.Compare migrated dashboards with source dashboards side by side. Step 3: Production migration After you are satisfied with the non-production results: Retrigger and finalize the migration in your production instance.Run during off-peak hours.Monitor the Migration Center for completion status. Note: There is no limit to the number of dashboards that can be migrated at once. The migration process runs in the background and does not disrupt other processes. What gets migrated Component mapping Core UI component Platform Analytics equivalent Notes Reports Data visualizations New data visualizations support tables, indicators, and other data sources PA widgets Data visualizations New data visualizations support tables, indicators, and other data sources Interactive filters Platform Analytics filters New filters support tables, indicators, and other data sources Breakdown dashboards Platform Analytics filters New filters support tables, indicators, and other data sources Indicators (KPIs) Indicators Created the same way as before What cannot be migrated Some content does not have a direct equivalent in Platform Analytics. Beginning with the Zurich release, Core UI dashboards with dynamic content blocks and sys_widgets are not included in the migration. These dashboards are maintained as Core UI dashboards and can still be viewed and edited. For more details, see Content not migrated or migrated in compatibility mode. What is not affected Service Portal content: The migration does not impact Service Portal. Service Portal continues to support reports and PA widgets. Report admins and PA admins can still create old reports and PA widgets on the portal.Interactive Analysis: Remains available only from Core UI Lists Understand compatibility mode Reports and PA widgets that cannot be fully migrated are imported as iframes in compatibility mode. Permissions after migration Role Core UI Content Access Users Cannot edit Core UI content if migrated; can configure compatibility mode content Dashboard admins Can view any Core UI dashboards; have link to migrated version Report admins Can view and configure any Core UI reports; have link to migrated version PA admins Can view and configure any Core UI PA widgets; have link to migrated version Bookmarks and favorites Note: Bookmarks are not migrated. However: Non-admin users selecting bookmarks, favorites, or links are automatically redirected to migrated content after full migration.Beginning with the Zurich release, non-admin users are redirected even with partial migration.System administrators can enable redirection by setting the com.glide.par.coreui.migration.admin_redirection.enabled property to true. Rollback procedures Critical: Content created in the new Platform Analytics experience after migration is not included in rollback. Only content that existed before migration can be restored. Rollback Options Scenario Who can perform Process Individual dashboard rollback Customer (self-service) Use Migration Center to rollback specific dashboards Full migration rollback ServiceNow Technical Support Contact Support to request full rollback How rollback works Rollback is an active or inactive switch. No data corruption is expected during rollback.Core UI content that was set to active=false is reactivated. Before rolling back Understand that any new dashboards, reports, or visualizations created in Platform Analytics after migration will not be preserved. Document any new content before initiating rollback. Troubleshoot common issues Cannot create new Core UI reports or dashboards after Australia upgrade Cause: This is expected behavior beginning with the Australia release. The com.glide.par.unified_analytics.enabled property is set to true by default. Resolution: Use Platform Analytics tools for all new content creation. Go to Analytics Center to create new dashboards and visualizations. Existing reports not accessible after upgrade Cause: This may indicate a migration or permissions issue. Resolution: Verify the user has appropriate roles (report_admin, pa_admin, or dashboard_admin).Check if content was migrated by going to Analytics Center > Library. If issue persists, contact ServiceNow Support and reference this knowledge article. Dashboard is loading slowly Cause: Dashboard may contain compatibility mode content (iframes). Resolution: Review the dashboard in Migration Center and identify compatibility mode components. Replace with native Platform Analytics visualizations where possible. Custom content blocks are missing Cause: Custom content blocks have no direct migration path. Resolution: Custom content blocks remain in compatibility mode. Access them through the Analytics Center. Consider recreating critical content using supported Platform Analytics features. Cannot find reports menu Cause: Menu structure changes beginning with the Australia release consolidate analytics under Platform Analytics. Resolution: Go to Platform Analytics > Library > Data Visualizations to find your reports. Use the search functionality to locate specific reports. Frequently asked questions What does migration do? Migration moves Core UI dashboards, reports, interactive filters, and Performance Analytics widgets to Platform Analytics, providing unified data visualizations, consolidated filters, and a single navigation menu. Indicators are created the same way as before. Can I select a subset of dashboards to migrate? Yes. Choose the Try with selected content option to try out the migration or split it into parts (for example, by department). This option is intended as a temporary measure on the way to complete migration. What about reports consumed independently from dashboards? A: All analytics artifacts, including standalone reports, are migrated to data visualizations. Reports migrated in compatibility mode are available from Analytics Center > Library > Data Visualizations, but they open in Report Designer, not Visualization Designer. Does the migration affect bookmarks or menu favorites? Bookmarks are not migrated. However, non-admin users selecting bookmarks, favorites, or links are automatically redirected to migrated content after full migration (or partial migration beginning with the Zurich release). What happens to non-responsive dashboards? Non-responsive dashboards must be opened first and then migrated. Otherwise, the layout cannot be converted. What happens to the Performance Analytics Admin Console, Dependency Assessment, in-form analytics, and Diagnostics? These features do not apply to Platform Analytics artifacts. The artifacts from the new Platform Analytics tables are not considered by these tools. Can I revert the unified_analytics property to false? This property cannot be changed directly. If you have a critical business need, contact ServiceNow Support to discuss your specific situation. This should be considered a temporary measure while you transition to Platform Analytics. Does this change affect Service Portal? No. The migration does not impact Service Portal content. Service Portal continues to support reports and PA widgets. Both report_admin and pa_admin can still create reports and PA widgets on the portal.
