Attachment variables show blank when opened by users other than the record creatorIssue Users other than the record creator cannot view or download attachments submitted through a record producer on a custom table that extends task. The file name appears in the variable editor, but clicking the file opens a blank screen. Symptoms - Attachment file name is visible in the variable editor but clicking it opens a blank screen.- File may not appear in the sys_attachment table for non-creator users.- Only the user who created the record can view the attachment. Release All releases Cause The system default ACL for reading sys_attachment records requires the getAttachmentReadAnswer() function. If this function is missing from the ACL script — or the 'Contextual Security Rules' plugin (com.glide.acl.service) is not active — users who did not create the record cannot read or download the attachment. This behavior has been present since the Quebec release. Resolution Prerequisites:- Admin role required.- Access to ACL rules and Plugin Manager. Option A: Restore the system default ACL 1. Navigate to System Security > Access Control (ACL).2. Locate the ACL for the sys_attachment table with the read operation.3. Verify that the script includes the getAttachmentReadAnswer() function.4. If the function is missing, restore the ACL to its OOB state.5. Save the record and test by having a non-creator user open the attachment. Option B: Repair the Contextual Security Rules plugin 1. Navigate to System Applications > All Available Applications > All.2. Search for Contextual Security Rules (com.glide.acl.service).3. Select Repair or Activate as appropriate.4. After the plugin is active, test by having a non-creator user open the attachment.
