Import Set REST API insertMultiple endpoint not inserting records into staging tableIssue When using the insertMultiple endpoint of the Import Set REST API (POST /api/now/import/{stagingTableName}/insertMultiple), records are not inserted into the staging table. The API maps incoming JSON payload keys against field labels by default, not column names. If the payload uses column names (for example, u_short_description) instead of field labels, the records are not inserted correctly. Release Cause The insertMultiple endpoint uses field labels by default instead of column names to map incoming JSON payload keys to staging table fields. If the payload sends column names and no corresponding configuration exists in the REST Insert Multiples table (sys_rest_insert_multiple), the records are not inserted or are inserted with blank fields. Resolution 1.Navigate to the REST Insert Multiples table (sys_rest_insert_multiple) and create a new record for the target import set staging table. 2.In the new record, add a column mapping entry in the related list. Set Column mapping to one of the following: •Label (default) — use this if the JSON payload keys match field labels. •Column name — use this if the JSON payload keys match column names (for example, u_short_description). Note: A corresponding column mapping entry must be added in the related table sys_rest_insert_multiple_column_mapping. Only one active record should exist in sys_rest_insert_multiple for the staging table — multiple active records will cause blank fields to be inserted. 3.Ensure only one active record exists in sys_rest_insert_multiple for the staging table. Multiple active records result in blank fields being inserted. 4.Send the JSON payload using the correct key format that matches the Column mapping setting selected in step 2.
