Workspace Builder: Unable to add Playbook and Contextual side panel to Apps created from app templates or older workspaces Issue You can't add a Playbook or Contextual side panel component to record pages in Workspace Builder for created from App templates or workspaces created before version 22.1.0 of App Engine Studio (AES) using the Workspace UI template.

Cause The App templates use older record page versions, which aren't fully supported by Workspace Builder. Workspaces created before AES version 22.1.0 using the Workspace UI template aren't fully supported by Workspace Builder. Resolution Suggested workarounds To use add a playbook and enable the contextual sidebar components in Workspace Builder, complete the following steps. There are two solutions. In this example we create an app using the Expense Pre-Approval template.

Solution 1: Remove the record variants using UI Builder and add a new Standard Record page. Open the workspace in UI Builder using the Open in UI Builder link in Workspace Builder.

Navigate to the record pages by selecting the page selector, and then selecting the record.

Under the Page variant , delete all the variants by selecting each variant and then selecting Delete .

After all the variants are deleted, select General and then select Create variant , which displays a modal.

Select the Standard record template, and hover over the template to select the Use template button that appears. If it doesn't appear, use the Search field to search for the Standard record.

Enter the name as Record Default and then select Create .

After you create the variant, return to Workspace Builder. Open the workspace and continue creating the record page, verifying that you can add a Playbook and Contextual side panel as expected.

Solution 2: Create new experience using the Workspace template Navigate to App Engine Studio.

Open the app where you want to add the Playbook or Contextual side panel.

In the App, select the Add option under the Experience .

Select the Workspace UI template , and then select Begin .

Enter the details as required and then select Continue .

The Primary and Secondary tables are automatically populated based on the tables specified in the Data section of your app. Add or change them as required.

After you create the workspace, select to Edit it.

Verify that record pages were created for the specified tables.

Select the record page you want to add the Playbook or Contextual side panel to, or use the Create option in the drop-down menu to create a new record page. Select Add a playbook on the Record details pane in the Playbook section.

Enter the details for the playbook and select Add .

Verify that the playbook has been successfully added.

Enable the Contextual side panel components by selecting Contextual side panel .

Enable the Contextual side panel component you want.
