Understand target version changes on EOL upgrade change requestsIssue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: #000000; } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: #000000; } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: black; } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: black; } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: black; } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: #00718F; } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: #024F69; } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: #032D42; } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: #00718f; } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: block; max-width: ; width: auto; height: auto; } } ServiceNow sends notifications 90, 60, and 30 days in advance of platform upgrades that are scheduled on your end-of-life (EOL) upgrade program record. These notifications explain that when a new release becomes generally available (GA) in first (Q1) or third (Q3) quarter of each year, ServiceNow changes the target version on your EOL upgrade change to the new release. EOL upgrade change requests initially target the current release version as a placeholder. When the GA of a new release becomes available in Q1 and Q3, ServiceNow makes this release the target version on your instances. This does not affect the scheduled date you set for your instances, and only affects the target version, as mentioned in the 90, 60, and 30-day notifications. Refer to Here's what you can expect on your parent program record notifications. Example 90-day notification You can reschedule the upgrade change request to any date within 60 days after the GA release. For example, with Vancouver N-1 and Xanadu GA, you have 60 days from the GA release date to reschedule the upgrade. You can reschedule and modify the target version in the program record (CHGxxxxxxxx) until the deadline shown on the instance dashboard (Planned Start Date must be before [deadline]). If your preferred date is beyond the specified deadline, submit an extension request form. You must submit this form if you cannot meet the upgrade deadline stated in the Planned Start Date must be before message. To request an extension for your change, comment directly on the parent change request. ServiceNow sends the extension request link on your main program record to complete and submit for review. Note: Submitting an extension request does not guarantee approval. The relevant team makes the decision after assessment. You are also notified of the upgrade change that updates the target version on your upgrade CHG to a new release. If you are not ready for the GA new release, you can change the target to your preferred version (if available). ServiceNow does not update any change requests where you change the target version to another family or patch. Note: To ensure you receive all relevant notifications about your changes, you should keep your company contacts current. You can also modify the child change requests back to their preferred version or reschedule them. Timing of releases General availability (GA) of new versions are typically released around the first (Q1) or third (Q3) quarter of each year. EOL program updates generally occur approximately 90 days before a new release. By upgrading to the latest family version, you can remain on a supported version for a longer time, requiring only an annual upgrade. You can plan your upgraded CHGs in advance, depending on if you are upgrading to a new release or the prior version, giving you flexibility to retarget the child change requests also back to their preferred version or to reschedule the CHG.
