Data Security Q: Why does any data need to be transmitted to the ATF Browser Orchestration Service? A: The ATF Test Generator and Cloud Runner require web browsers to operate. The web browsers allow for the services to ensure they are testing the User Interface in a realistic way. The web browsers are provided by the ATF Browser Orchestration Service. The web browser is hosted on a different server than your ServiceNow instance. Q: What data is transmitted from your ServiceNow instance to the ATF Browser Orchestration Service to generate tests and execute tests? The URLs of the forms are transmitted to the ATF Browser Orchestration Service to open in a headless browser. The browsers navigate the ServiceNow instance as necessary to test the system. No data returned from the user interfaces is saved on the ATF Browser Orchestration Service servers. Q: Will there be any commingling of data if my data is being processed outside of my instance? A: Data will not be commingled outside of your instance. Data is not persisted on the servers hosting the ATF Browser Orchestration Service. Q: What happens to my data after it is processed? A: Data is not persisted on servers hosting the ATF Browser Orchestration Service. Any data sent to the ATF Browser Orchestration Service is only held in memory of the browser processes for the duration of the process (Test Generator or test execution). Q: How is the data secured during transmission? A: Secure socket layer protects the data during transmission and requests are sent over HTTPS network call. Q: Are passwords sent between my instance and the ATF Browser Orchestration Service? No passwords are sent between the ATF Browser Orchestration Service and your instance. Certificate-based authentication is used. Q: Why do I need to select a Cloud User for the ATF Test Generator and Cloud Runner? A: The Cloud User ensures that only the desired data is accessed by the ATF Test Generator. When executing individual tests in the Cloud Runner impersonation of other users will occur, as defined in the tests regardless of the Cloud User specified. Q: What access does the ATF Test Generator and Cloud Runner Cloud User need? A: The Cloud User needs to have access to all the data to be able to generate tests. In most cases, this user will have the admin role and may include other roles if admin does not have access to all the data on your instance. The roles needed are dependent on the test. This is generally a dedicated user for the ATF Test Generator. The user needs to have the required roles to access the desired data, be unlocked, and not be a non-interactive user. The password for this user will not be used by the ATF Test Generator and Cloud Runner. No person should ever need to know the password of this user. Performance Q: What impact will Cloud Runner have on the performance of my instance? A: The Cloud Runner has the same performance impact as a user performing the same tests manually. While this will be faster than a human taking these actions, for most use cases, this will have a minimal impact on the instance.
