This is not created by default in the sys_properties table, but the default value of 24 hours is hard-coded in java. Emails in the Outbox with State=Ready and Type=send-ready with a sys_created_on timestamp greater than 24 hours ago will not be sent by default. This is to protect the system from having a huge number of sent emails at one time if the Outbox has a large number of waiting to be sent emails. In case email sending was turned off for some time and a large number of emails for sending were created, these continue to build. When it is decided to turn email sending back on, there will be a flood of emails sent out to the messaging infrastructure which may cause performance issues. Caution must be taken to avoid to send a large number of emails at one time. Be sure to do this in intervals, depending on how large the email backlog is, and how spaced out they are created in time. You might want to start with a value of 36 (1.5 days worth), let those go out, then set the value again to maybe 48 (two days), let those go out, and so on, increasing the value of the property until all of the older emails are sent. A quantity of 1000 emails may be considered a large but manageable number of emails at one time. Sorting on sys_created_on is necessary to see how many emails there are in a given window, and figure out how to set glide.email.smtp.claim.lookback.hrs to a reasonable value, i.e.: Name = glide.email.smtp.claim.lookback.hrs Type = integer Value = 48 Once the email backlog has been cleared, it would be recommended to either set the value back to 24 or delete the property. This is not a regression introduced in Tokyo, the behaviour was introduced in San Diego and there is no impact on the email sending functionality. The planned fix is to add the info message for the user on send-ready email records falling beyond look back period.
