It runs important checks to avoid potential problems as part of the install process. It is also possible to automate the installation of the MSI file using Powershell silent install scripts available on this KB article:KB0854442 Windows MID Server silent installation and uninstallation The option of doing a completely manual install is still available if the ZIP file is downloaded by editing the config.xml and wrapper-override.conf files directly, and then running start.bat to create the service. If you do that it is important to set the windows service names exactly as the MSI installer would do it.
