Error: "Update failed" - Unable to view and approve the approval records in the Service Portal by the delegated userSummaryDelegation in ServiceNow is used when one of the user is not available or Out Of Office and his responsibilities will be taken care by the Delegated user. Approver user 'A' delegated to 'B', now when 'B' logs into Service Portal and unable to see the Approval tab itself (note- B is a normal end-user without any roles).However, user 'B' is getting all the email notifications as part of the delegation.Approval email notifications are going fine to the delegator but when the user clicks on the approval button from the email it says "Update failed"Related LinksThe Delegation is only complete when the Delegated user has the same roles and responsibilities as the Approver User. The record's update failed because the delegated approver lacked the necessary roles to approve it, thus the Error: "Update failed"Be aware that the Approval tab in the Service Portal will only be accessible if the user has the role "approver_user" as configured in the Approval MenuRefer to Delegate approvals and tasks to another user to understand the reason why the delegated approvers are getting the emails So to summarize delegated approver is also like any other user in the system who need to have enough access/role to approve any record
