Email notifications sent to the wrong email addressIssue This article provides solutions for notifications being sent to the wrong email address or additional users who shouldn't normally receive the email. If the notification is sent to a wrong email address, the cause is mostly likely that the email address of the user is wrong in the notification preferences. If the notification is sent to an extra user that shouldn't be in the recipients list, the cause is most likely that one of the "correct recipients" has delegates, and the notification is also sent to them.ResolutionIf using UI15, impersonate the user and go to notification preferences in the cogwheel. Click primary email to check the email address. If using UI16, go to cmn_notif_device.list in filter navigator, find the user and look at the primary email: Compare the email addresses in notification preferences with the ones in sys_user table in user profile. If the notification was sent to an extra user, search for the delegates of other "correct" users in the recipient list. For example, if the notification was sent to Alex, Clair, and Michael (and Michael shouldn't have been in this list), then most likely, Michael is the delegate of Clair or Alex. Go to sys_user table and look for the delegates of Clair and Alex: Related LinksNotification Preferences - ServiceNow product documentationKB0528667: Verifying a user's notification preferencesKB0957766: Outbound email notifications FAQ
