Reference field shows 'Invalid Reference' when user navigates to the field by pressing TAB keyIssue <!-- /*NS Branding Styles*/ --> .ns-kb-css-body-editor-container { p { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } span { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, #000000); } h2 { font-size: 24pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h3 { font-size: 18pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } h4 { font-size: 14pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--text-primary, black); } a { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718F); } a:hover { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #024F69); } a:target { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #032D42); } a:visited { font-size: 12pt; color: var(--now-color--link-primary, #00718f); } ul { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } li { font-size: 12pt; font-family: Lato; } img { display: ; max-width: ; width: ; height: ; } } If there are 2 reference fields on a form, in such a way that 2 fields have some kind of dependency. Like Employee and Company field, where the company field will populate based on the employee (maybe through UI Policy or Client Script). They are positioned in such a way that pressing the TAB key will move the focus from the first to the second (usual LTR focus navigation) In such a scenario, if a user first populates the employee field (by selecting some value) and while the company field is getting populated, the user presses the TAB, the focus will shift from employee to company field. Now, though the company field is populated, if another TAB key is pressed, the focus will shift to the next field, and the company field will show the 'Invalid Reference' message below it. The UI policy updates the field with the display value, but the actual reference does not get updated. Hence the reference 'i' icon will also not be seen. Either they can shift it higher the Employee field, or place some other field in between those. Make sure if they are choosing the second option, that middle field should be visible on the form, so that focus goes there. There is a third way to shift the focus, which is by DOM manipulation. However, ServiceNow does not recommend choosing this option, as it is not supported by us.
