Using .getValue() in Business Rules does not respect the Date format - Support and Troubleshooting

Using .getValue() in Business Rules does not respect the Date format Issue  "The following fields contain invalid text: " Error message appears (Error must point to Date/Time fields - In Service Catalog) Date format has changed after Date/Time field is passed through any JavaScript processing

Cause This occurs when the .getValue() function in JavaScript is used on a Date/Time field in any custom script processing E.g. A Business Rule is used to transfer the 'Planned end date' of a Change Request to the 'Planned start date' of a second Change Request (This is just an example) When the Business Rule / Script attempts to retrieve the Date/Time field using .getValue(), the Date formatting is not respected and the Date is no longer in the same format as it would have displayed on the form Resolution Manual Date manipulation will be required to resolve this issue The Date will need to be re-formatted using JavaScript after the point that .getValue() is used Related Links Date Formatting in the ServiceNow Community:
