Warning appearing while running a report with additional dataset(s): "The main report and multiple series are not compatible" Issue  Symptoms Warning appearing while running a report with additional dataset(s): "The main report and multiple series are not compatible (Types must be compatible: Line/Area/Column/Spline or Bar/Bar Horizontal Bar/Horizontal Bar).

Release All releases.

Cause The base report and dataset definitions are using different settings which are not compatible.

Resolution Refer to the following chapter for the list a limitations per report type when using additional Dataset(s): Add an additional dataset to a report — Report Designer

For example:

The base report and the datasets must be of the same type. For a Time Series report, the base report and the datasets must have the same 'Per' field value. For a Bar or Horizontal Bar report, the base report and the datasets must have the same 'Group by' value.
