Steps to Reproduce

Navigate to Service Catalog > Maintain Items and find an existing item, for example, inclusion list IP.

Set the write role for the variable IP address to Itil.

Log in as an ess (no role) user.

In Service Catalog, add the item to the shopping cart.

This user can edit the IP address variable of the item in the shopping cart in the Service Catalog UI.

This is controlled by Create Roles of the variable.

In Service Portal, click the shopping cart.

Note that the ess user cannot edit the IP address variable of the item in the shopping cart in the Service Portal UI.
